DataFlow Defaults

This section will guide you on how to set runtime “field default values” for a field in any Promenta Webflow process (e.g. Material Master, Vendor Master, Customer Master or other).

  • There are different screens in which defaults can be applied
  • It is also possible for default values to be different for different types of data process (e.g. create, change, extend or any)
  • Default values are only applied once when the requester (initiator) starts a specific process
  • A field can be configured so that its default value can be changed by the user or the field can be set to display only or hidden (refer to “field status” configuration information on the DataFlow Fields page)
  • Make sure that you carry out all changes in your configuration client in your SAP development system. You will always be prompted to save your changes in a SAP customizing transport which you can use to transport your changes through the SAP landscape to Production following your own internal technical change management procedures (this will align the full SAP landscape with your changes).

Follow these steps to set or change the default value of a specific field:

  1. Once inside the correct configuration tree open the DataFlow Defaults folder for the specific process you intend to edit.
  2. In all of the following examples below when you double click and select a node in the configuration tree, then click on the “Change Node” button you will be able to change any relevant field default value(s). If you then click the “return” button on the application toolbar you will navigate back to the main configuration tree. Remember that when you arrive back in the main configuration tree screen you must click on the save button to ensure that your changes are saved to a SAP transport.
  3. The following examples show different field default value scenarios in relation to a Promenta Material Master Process:
  • If you would like to set or change one or more default field values on the “Promenta Material Master Search Screen”, for a Finished Product (FERT) process, you would navigate the configuration tree as depicted immediately below (item 1). In this case “Industry Sector” and “Material Type” have been set to default values of “C” and “FERT” respectively. Click on the “Change Node” button to set or change any new default values (item 2)
  • If you would like to set or change one or more default field values on the “Promenta Material Master Keys Screen”, for a Finished Product (FERT) process, you would navigate the configuration tree as depicted immediately below (item 3). In this case “Industry Sector” is defaulted to “C”, “Material Type” is defaulted to “FERT”, Sales Organization is defaulted to be the same value as MARC-WERKS (Plant) and Distribution Channel is defaulted to “10”. Click on the “Change Node” button to set or change any new default values (item 4)
  • If you would like to set or change one or more default field values on the “Promenta Material Master Detail Screen”, for a Finished Product (FERT) process, you would navigate the configuration tree as depicted immediately below (item 5). In this example there are numerous field defaults set because this is the main and detailed data screen(item 6). It is also possible to configure a set of default field values for a specific process type e.g. a “change” process (item 8) as well as a set of default values for “any” process (item 7). Click on the “Change Node” button to set or change any new default values (item 6)
  • There may be a situation where you need to apply a default value to a specific field based on the default value of another field. Navigate the configuration tree as depicted immediately below (item 9). In this example the intention is to provide a default value for profit centre 000010001, based on plant P100 (i.e. at runtime if the plant is P100 then the default value for profit centre will be set to 000010001). Click on the “Change Node” button to set or change any new default values (item 11)
