Quick-Start Install

This installation guide covers most scenarios for installing Promenta – please confirm your scenario before starting as some sections may be skipped. This guide is focused on a single user with wide authorisations installing on a non-production system such as Sandbox or Dev – normally for the first time. Subsequent installations on other systems and especially on Production may require you to split the activities amongst suitably authorised users

Install Check Report

Since 6.43.3.0 you can follow each step and check it using the Promenta install check report.

Prerequisites

You must ensure that your system is ready for Promenta before you start the install process.

Please refer to this link to check your system is ready : Prerequisites

STEP 1 : Install transports

You will be provided with a set of SAP transports and a transport order via a Delivery Note.

You MUST deploy as per the delivery note otherwise critical errors will occur.

Please see here for more information on the Transport Management and Delivery process

STEP 2 : Assign the ALL role

Information : Promenta delivers role YZY_PROMENTA_ALL for use in non-production installations. It should allow most Promenta-related tasks to be carried out. This role is not supported for Production use.

Assign role YZY_PROMENTA_ALL to the installation user

STEP 3 : Setup number ranges

The number range objects must be initialised on each system. This is carried out in transaction SNUM
The system will ask if you want to transport the number range – you should say NO to this. Number range should be setup on each system manually

Objects to be initialised : ZPMT000001 & ZPMT000002 with the values below

Please ensure these values are entered exactly as below along with all leading zeros to avoid issues

Number IntervalNumberFromTo
ZPMT000001010000000199999999
ZPMT00000201000000000001500000000000

STEP 4 : Activate Promenta services

Activate the Promenta delivered ICF services.

Transaction SICF

These services are needed to enable web-based User Interface for the solution

Activate : /sap/bc/bsp/promenta ==> activate all subnodes
Activate : /promenta ==> activate all subnodes
Activate : /sap/bc/bsp/sap/yzyprmntcusmime

(Optional) Set up ICF WAS form-based logon. See here for more information

STEP 5 : Setup Web-dispatcher/load balancer

[Skip if not required]

If you have an external SAP Web dispatcher or load balancer with its own external URL you may need to use this URL as the entry point for the Promenta application. If you do not configure this then Promenta will use the FQDN of the host SAP application server.

Transaction : /PROMENTA/EMAIL_PRM

Update keys : WEBFLOW_BSP/WEBDISP_URL and enter the external url of the web dispatcher

STEP 6 : Portal Integration

[Skip if you are not using an SAP NetWeaver portal]

These settings are unique to each SAP system in that landscape and must be done on each system manually.

Prerequisite 1 : You have deployed the Promenta Portal package in your SAP Netweaver portal. You are running Netweaver 7.3 and above. See here for installation.

Prerequisite 2 : After installation you have set up the Promenta portal package. See here for setup instruction.

Transaction : /PROMENTA/EMAIL_PRM

Set key PORTAL/MIMES_URL =   <portal url and protocol > /com.promenta.pct.saphr.mimes/

Set key PORTAL/BASE_URL = <portal url and protocol >
Note that there is no forward slash at the end of this url

STEP 7 : Install Product key

If you already have a new Product key file supplied by Promenta proceed as below.

If you do NOT yet have a Product key file – see here for instruction on how to get one

Transaction /PROMENTA/KEY_INST

Now upload the file supplied to you from Promenta

NOTE : This process is required on all ECC/S4H systems and clients in your landscape and needs to be done manually.

STEP 8 : S4Hana Settings

[Skip if installing on ECC6 system]

8A : Set up workflow user

This setup is normally done by Promenta in the delivered package  at implementation but you must check it.

Check override of decision tree /PROMENTA/TM999 for combination EMAIL / SCOT_SENDER_USERID. It should be user id SAP_WFTR

More information here

8B : Check workflow tasks

Transaction PFTC

Check these objects are set as “General”

task type = TS, Id=94507922

task type=WS, Id= 94500009

More information here

STEP 9 : Schedule clean-up job

The clean-up job will ensure that temporary and old data are periodically removed. This job can be configured for customer requirement but the default configuration can be used.

Transaction SM36

Job information:

  • Name PROMENTA-CLEANUP  (other names can be used)
  • Program  /PROMENTA/WEBFORMS_ARCHIVE
  • Variant /PROMENTA/JOB
  • Periodic  Daily

More information is available here

CHECK : Check install

Transaction : /PROMENTA/INSTALL

This will run a set of checks to determine if all technical settings and parameters are in place and correct.

Note : Some basis permissions may be needed to execute some tests

Run the program with the default selection screen settings

Ensure you have a green icon

Note : If you are installing on a Sandbox system or POC installation and have decided to skip the clean-up job [Step 9] then that error can be ignored

TEST : Framework

You should test the Promenta solution framework (WebFlow) by running the simple webform. Ensure user interactions are working as expected

Transaction /PROMENTA/TEST_WEB

Please see here for additional information

TEST : Journal Solution

[Skip if not using Journal Solution]

You should now be in a position to perform the basic test for the Journal solution

Please see here for the details of this test activity

PROJECT activities

You will now begin the process-specific installation activities. These will be different dependant on the Promenta solution you are implementing. These activities will normally be discussed and agreed with Promenta.

Typical activities would be :

  • Set up RFC destinations for service-user updates
  • Setup workflow routing test users and assign to workflow teams
  • Set up the excel Add-in and connections
  • Setup up hub/spoke scenarios
  • Configure your production SAP authorisation roles
